"Wildbore: A photographic legacy" has been awarded best book about the Manawatu for the last two years. Read the Manawatu/Stuff coverage here.
The Heritage Trust panel of judges said that the book "is a superb record of environmental change in the area, Catherine Knight’s text weaving together the significance of Wildbore’s life, his photography, and environmental and historical change."
The Heritage Trust’s criteria for this award include the quality, range and accuracy of research involved, scholarship and analysis, the quality of the writing, clarity of argument and contribution to the understanding of Manawatu history. The judges of the prize felt that Knight’s work ‘ticked every one of these boxes’ said Heritage Trust chair Emeritus Professor Margaret Tennant and had, in addition, significant and impressive design elements.
